Voxwell · effective November 5, 2026
The short version: Voxwell analyzes your voice on your device. The app does not upload your recordings, measurements or progress to Voxwell or an analytics service. There is no account, advertising or tracking. You can choose to export or share files; your device's backup settings may also copy stored app data to a backup service.
Your voice and the microphone
Voxwell asks for the microphone so it can measure your voice: pitch, range, loudness, clarity and the other readings the exercises show. The sound is analyzed on your phone as you speak or sing. Analysis does not upload it.
Some features keep a recording on your phone so you can listen back: clips you record and save for Imitate, and the standard recordings of your voice profile, so you can hear how your voice has changed. They stay on the phone. You can delete them at any time in Settings → Your data → Delete my recordings. Other recordings, such as a free-sing take, are kept only in memory: the newest one until you record something else or close the app, so you can send it to us if a reading looks wrong, and the others are gone when you leave the screen.
Settings → Microphone → For support can share that newest recording as a sound file, and a short text report of how your phone set up its microphone and what Voxwell measured. Sharing opens your phone's share sheet so you choose the recipient or destination. Delete my recordings and Erase everything remove Voxwell's in-memory copy too. They cannot remove copies you already shared.
Speech recognition
Diction Dash checks the words you read with your iPhone's own speech recognition, set to run on the device only. Voxwell asks for this permission only when you start a round, and the audio doesn't leave your phone.
What's stored on your phone
Your progress (results, profiles, sessions, the lessons you've read), settings and retained recordings are stored in the app's local storage. You can:
- export a copy of your progress as a file you keep (Settings → Your data → Export, or You → Progress); recordings aren't included;
- delete your recordings, or erase everything Voxwell keeps (Settings → Your data);
- delete the app to remove its local data; offloading an app can retain its data.
Your operating system may include stored app data in device or cloud backups according to your backup settings. Voxwell does not operate that backup service or a synchronization account. Erasing data in the app does not delete earlier backups or exported files; manage those through the backup provider or wherever you saved them. A restored device backup may restore older app data.
Voxwell has no server copy of your progress or recordings to recover for you. A progress export does not contain recordings.
Purchases
Voxwell Pro is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; Voxwell never sees your payment details. The App Store tells the app on your phone whether your Apple Account owns Pro or its free trial, and the app checks this on the phone.
Reminders
If you turn on the daily reminder, the notification is scheduled by your phone. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Third parties
Voxwell has no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code. Spoken examples use voices that the system identifies as local; if none is available, spoken examples are unavailable instead of using a network voice. Reference singing and the actors' clips used in Imitate and Echo Match come with the app, with their source credits in Settings.
Support messages and external links
If you email support, we receive the address, message and any files you choose to send and use them to respond. Do not attach a recording unless you want us to hear it. Opening a website or using another app to share a file is governed by that service's privacy policy. Apple separately handles App Store purchases and any diagnostics you choose to share through its services.
Children
Voxwell isn't directed at children under 13.
Measurements, not diagnoses
Voxwell measures your voice; it doesn't diagnose it. If your voice has been hoarse, breathy, painful or tired for more than three weeks, see a doctor (an ENT or laryngologist) or a speech-language pathologist.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If Voxwell ever adds features that send data off your phone (accounts, for example), they will be optional, explained before you use them, and described here first.
